Pick of the Week

Upholstery Isn't Just for Funiture

Brown Design takes their love for fabric to another level and shows that upholstery isn't just for furniture.  Seen here in our modern loft-style office, we took a conventional wood handrail and had it wrapped in white crocodile leather.  This detail compliments the clean style of the space while adding a sense of design and interest.

   

Pick of the Week

This pair of 1950's vintage chairs from the Suzan Fellman Showroom caught our eye. Suzan's vision for the chairs was to strip and bleach the wood in order to emulate the appearance of a woman's bare skin.  The chairs were then reupholstered in vintage Gucci scarves, allowing the vibrant colors to be the pop.  These chairs could definitely make a statement of style in anyone's home! 

 

    

Pick of the Week

We couldn't resist this charming Grecian style cabinet with a split pediment detail at the top. The interior is painted in a bright coral that will be sure to accentuate your accessories and china. 

We liked this cabinet so much that you may even find it in a room of an upcoming project!

Brown Design is Remodeling

This is one of our interior design projects that we completed on the Wilshire Corridor in the spring of 2007.  Our clients have decided to remodel.   

Some of the highlights of the project include the removal of the marble around the fireplace and on the floors in the living room.  The images below represent the completed remodel from spring of 2007 and the home now under construction. 

Another update to the home will be in the dining room where we have dramatically opened up the space by knocking down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room.

Since our designers are constantly discovering chic furniture and accessories, we are going to start publishing a weekly blog featuring a "pick of the week."

Fresh Upholstery Ideas

Here is a fresh idea for taking a vintage or existing piece of furniture, reupholstering it, and making it look modern and new.  For a recent project in Los Angeles, we purchased two vintage high-back Scandinavian wing chairs, circa 1960's from Downtown.  We had the chairs reupholstered in two contrasting fabrics as seen in the image below.  The darker beige seen on the side of the chair carried over to the back as well.  This is a great way for anyone to modernize their home. 

 

Flipping Out Season 3

For all the Flipping Out fans out there, you'll be happy to hear that season 3 is officially in production!   Filming began today and will continue through the early part of summer.  Check back to our blog periodically, as we will announce the official date you will be able to catch up with Jeff Lewis, Ryan Brown, Jenni Pulos, and Zoila.  You won't want to miss a fresh season of drama!
